Jerusalem Artichoke
Ah the jerusalem artichoke. Emmanuel was just asking me what the h*ck is a whatchamacall-it.
WELL folks. Let me tell you: The jerusalem artichoke has actually nothing to do with either Jerusalem, and well I guess lill to do with the actual artichoke except the fact that it tastes like artichoke! Actually, I personnally like it better than artichoke.
The jerusalem artichoke is a native tuber from North America, member of the sunflower family that the amerindian cultivated and called something like 'sun-root'.
It is said that the plant was brought back to Europe and the French started cultivating it and called it 'Topinambour'.
The sunchoke althout easy to cultivate and a pretty hardy plant, is not super popular in some area due to the fact that it is relatively dificult to harvest by our standards: the tuber as lots of little roots that grow and grow and become all entwined...
So that's the story!
