life's lesson by ?

I found the following on somebody else's blog.
I thought it was pretty cool.

1. Cause for sorrow is lack of understanding.

2. Patience is a reflection of the peaceful mind.
A peaceful mind is able to cope with all situations
without becoming disturbed and agitated. It calmly accepts
the resolution of circumstances and, with this patience,
acquires the power to deal with all situations.

3. What others think, say or do, we can at best
influence but not control. However what we think,
say or do, can be controlled by us!

4. The ability to be firm (in an adverse situation)
has to be balanced with its complementing ability
to be flexible (adapt to a situation). (Remember it is
balanced use of brake & accelerator both that takes a
car to the destination safely!)

5. How do we judge the situation (whether to be firm or flexible)
correctly? Realizing the following improves our chances.
a) When our mind is free from preferences, prejudices or
emotional disturbances, we are likely to perceive the situation correctly
(as the surface of a lake free from ripples reflects the image of reality without distortion)
b) When the intention behind our action is enabling (or improving the collective good) eventually people/circumstances fall in line.
c) For success, it is not enough to have good intention (purpose) alone. It must be supported with good actions (the process or way of doing it).

6. If nothing else seems to work it could be repaying the debt
of our ‘karmic account’ with other souls. In that case it helps
to remember that even this day will pass away!
